Technical SEO for WordPress websites
A beautiful website is of little use if Google cannot read it properly. I ensure that the structure, loading time and technical specifications are all correct behind the scenes, so that your content actually stands a chance of being found. It’s not about gut feeling, but about the fundamentals that search engines – and now also AI systems such as ChatGPT or Google’s AI summariser – actually evaluate.

The invisible foundation
Technical SEO: the work that nobody sees
SEO can broadly be divided into four areas: technical SEO, on-page optimisation, off-page SEO and local SEO; a brief overview of all four can be found under the glossary entry for ‘SEO’. This page deliberately focuses on the first point – the technical foundation – as this is precisely the part that I, as a web designer, implement myself.
Technical SEO is the work that nobody sees, yet it makes the biggest difference. A heading structure that is logically organised from H1 to H6. Structured data that tells Google that you are a business in Nuremberg, what services you offer and what questions customers ask you most frequently. A sitemap that is actually up to date, rather than one that hasn’t been updated for months. And a loading time that doesn’t frustrate either visitors or the Google algorithm.
Scope of services
What’s included: Your technical SEO package
Clear heading structure
Jede Seite bekommt eine H1-bis-H3-Hierarchie, die Nutzer und Suchmaschinen gleichermaßen verstehen.
Schema.org markup
Your company, your services and your frequently asked questions are stored in a machine-readable format for Google, not just as plain text.
Sitemap, robots.txt & llms.txt
A technically correct sitemap and robots.txt, supplemented by an llms.txt file for the new generation of AI search engines.
Meta titles, descriptions & alt text
Titles and descriptions encourage users to click, rather than simply listing keywords, and each image is given a proper description rather than an empty attribute.
Google Company ProfileGoogle-Unternehmensprofil
Set-up and ongoing maintenance – often the first point of contact, even before anyone visits the actual website.
PageSpeed optimisationPageSpeed-Optimierung
Because a slow page is also a technical SEO issue, not just a usability issue.
To be honest
What doesn’t belong: a clear distinction
‘I lay the technical foundations on which any content strategy can really take effect.’
What I have deliberately chosen not to include in my services: a weekly content editorial service featuring new blog posts or traditional link-building via press portals. Both can be useful, but I wouldn’t be able to offer either of them professionally on the side. There are specialist content and SEO agencies for that, and I do work with them when required. If the underlying structure isn’t right, even the best blog post won’t be of much use.
