Task description
The Tandem Hotel Bamberg originally hosted its website on TYPO3—a powerful CMS that is often time-consuming for small hotels to maintain. The agency that designed the original site provided a solid design template. The request was for a nearly identical replica built on WordPress—with the clear goal of simplifying ongoing maintenance and keeping update costs manageable, without sacrificing the tried-and-true visual design.
Implementation
The existing TYPO3 website was recreated in WordPress as faithfully as possible—the layout, structure, and color scheme were preserved, while the technical foundation was completely replaced. The site was built using the Classic Editor, which was standard at the time; today, I consistently replace it with the Gutenberg Editor. The website is fully bilingual in German and English, responsive, and includes a room overview as well as a contact and booking form for direct inquiries.
Result
A familiar website built on a new, low-maintenance platform—seamless in design and significantly more accessible from a technical standpoint. Since then, the Tandem Hotel Bamberg has been able to update content on its own without relying on external support for routine updates.
